The film hopes to have a cross border ensemble cast

Pakistan’s star actor Shaan, who played the character of Mansoor in the critically acclaimed Shoaib Mansoor film Khuda Kay Liye is all set to act in a cross border ensemble cast movie that will be directed by Shoaib himself.

Shoaib is currently busy scripting this forthcoming venture which will be a film about relationships. This movie will be produced by Percept Picture Company and the filmmakers have approached Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar to be a part of the film.

“Ideally having Shaan from Pakistan and any one of the three big names (Akshay, Saif and Aamir) from India will be a great thing for the film. Shoaib is a genius in filmmaking; perhaps the Sanjay Leela Bhansali of Pakistan, and he wants brilliant performers in his film,” says the head honcho of Percept, Shailendra Singh.

He adds, “The film will have a great line up of talented cast from India and Pakistan and we are looking to take in some big names. But as you know getting a big star is difficult due to unavailability of dates. But we are trying to get the best for the film surely.”

Shoaib’s last film Khuda Kay Liye about the difficulties that the Muslims face post the 9/11 attacks in the United States, was a hit in Pakistan. The film delved into the internal tension between the fundamentalists and the liberal Muslims and showed how this was creating a conflict not only between the Western world and the Muslims, but also within the Muslim community itself.

Khuda Kay Liye was a big eye opener about contemporary life and problems that the Muslims went through then, but Shailendra admits that it will not be as hard hitting.

He adds, “But again it will have some social issue to tell and it will be have Shoaib’s master touch of filmmaking. The film will be something that audience will talk and think about. It will be an intelligent, intellectual film.”
