Probing the alleged murder of a middle-aged woman and the kidnapping of a three-year old girl in Hyderabad by a couple believed to be from Mumbai, the Hyderabad police on Saturday interrogated around 200 residents of Malwani area to ascertain the identity of the deceased. The police made the inquiries after finding a prescription from the deceased’s body that belonged to a doctor from Malwani. “We made inquires at the slums of Malwani and questioned around 200 residents, of which around 20 claimed to have seen the deceased woman, but are clueless about her identity,” said head constable Syyed Hamidullah of Habib Nagar police station in Hyderabad, where the murder case has been registered.

The Hyderabad police also made inquiries with the Malwani police in the case and have also put up posters of the deceased woman in the Malwani area, so that someone can identify her. “We have gone through the missing cases registered with the Malwani police station, but there was no leads,” said Hamidullah. He added that he would soon visit the Missing Persons Bureau (MPB) of the city crime branch, situated at Crawford Market, to gather more details on missing persons’ complaints since June 18. “We are also planning to seek help of the crime branch in the case,” Hamidullah said. “One of our police teams has also gone to Ajmer, since the suspect, Rathod Jain, gave an Ajmer address when he booked into a hotel in Hyderabad. But we believe his address could be fake,” he said.
