BHUBANESWAR: With South Korean steel major POSCO completing three years of signing an MOU with Orissa government on June 22, opponents are planning a rally where Left leaders A B Bardhan and Prakash Karat and environmental activist Vandana Shiva will be present.

"This is for the first time that all the anti-POSCO forces have come together to lodge their protests," POSCO Birodhi Sangram Samanowya Samiti (PBSSS) chairman Abani Boral said on Monday. PBSSS is a newly floated platform with an objective to unitedly oppose the country's biggest FDI.

Boral, a noted CPI leader in Orissa, said anti-POSCO forces opposing the steel plant, proposed port, proposed mining in Sundargarh district and also supply of water from Mahanadi river, would participate in the rally.

PBSSS, which also protested against the project at the grassroots level, has decided to observe a 'black week' from June 22.
