THRISSUR (KERALA): This was a marriage with a difference - the groom came to the church with his grandsons in tow for his wedding that was solemnised by his priest son.

This unique marriage was held at Valappad in Kerala's Thrissur district on Saturday. Antony, 64, a widower married Brijitha, 59, at the Valappad St. Sebastian's Church while his son Antree Kannampuzha, a catholic priest, administered the ceremonies.

Antony's first wife Rita, whom he married in 1972, died in 2001. Besides Antree, Antony has two other sons Alex and Anand, who are settled abroad.

It was following persuasion from relatives that Antony decided for a second marriage.

Antree is working as the principal of Don Bosco Technical Institute run by Salesians, a catholic religious order, in Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district.

Asked about solemnising the marriage of his father, Antree said he was only doing his duty as a priest.
