CBI arrested Krishna, the compounder of dentist Rajesh Talwar, in connection with the murder of teenaged Aarushi Talwar and her family's domestic help Hemraj.
NEW DELHI/GHAZIABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested Krishna, the compounder of dentist Rajesh Talwar, in connection with the murder of teenaged Aarushi Talwar and her family's domestic help Hemraj in Noida last month.
CBI joint director Arun Kumar told reporters in Delhi, "We have carried out two tests - polygraph test and narco analysis test on Krishna in Bangalore. We conducted two other tests before leaving for Bangalore. A psychological test was conducted on him in AIIMS on June 9. On the basis on these, we have arrested him."
Arun Kumar refused to divulge details of the tests, but said that "investigations are on".
It is not clear on what charges the police have arrested Krishna.
A CBI team earlier on Friday conducted a psychological test also on Rajesh Talwar, arrested for the killings of his teenaged daughter and the domestic help. The investigating agency also arranged a telephone conversation between Talwar and a close friend in Dubai.
The CBI visited Dasna jail in Ghaziabad to conduct the test on Talwar. The test was held in order to "synchronise" the sequence of the crime, revealed a source in CBI.
Asked about the phone conversation between Talwar, a well known dentist, and his friend in Dubai, the CBI refused to divulge any details.
According to reliable sources in the CBI, the agency is looking for the "third person" in the triangle, who allegedly executed the murders of Aarushi and Hemraj on the night of May 15.
The CBI has claimed there were three people who shared drinks on the night of the crime. While Hemraj and Krishna, Talwar's compounder, were known to each other, the CBI is looking for the third man who was present with them that fateful night. "We are trying to match Krishna's statement with Rajesh Talwar's fresh statements," a CBI source said.
Meanwhile, the CBI is interrogating an industrialist friend of the Talwars to find out if his car was used to destroy evidence. The car of Pradeep Dayal, a family friend of the Talwars, was used to take Arushi's remains to Haridwar for the last rites.
The agency is also investigating if he was involved in destruction of crucial evidence related to the case. Dayal is also said to be friends with a top leader of the Samajwadi Party and his name came up during the narco test of Krishna. The agency got a narco test conducted on Krishna, but it did not reveal anything significant.
Though the agency has refused to give any details about the narco test, sources in the agency have indicated that Krishna has put the blame for the murder on the Talwars. There was speculation that Krishna might be arrested after a brain-mapping test.
The agency is also investigating the role of two former servants of the Talwars - Vishnu and Raju. While Vishnu, who was a suspect earlier, is being questioned, Raju was picked up from Mansarovar Park, Shahdara in East Delhi on Wednesday. Raju, or Nimraj Kaushal, was believed to have died in an accident at Pandav Nagar area of east Delhi on April 14. However, it turned out to be case of mistaken identity.
Raju (25) had worked for the Talwars' for about a month from Jan 1 to Feb 13 when Hemraj went home on vacation to Nepal. The Uttar Pradesh police early in their probe took note of Raju's possible role in the murder but could not initiate investigations.
Meanwhile, the family of Krishna Friday petitioned the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) for his immediate release.
"Krishna's sister Parvati met Joint Registrar M.L. Aneja in the morning and submitted a two-page petition. We have accepted her request and would soon take a decision," an NHRC spokesperson said.
On Thursday, Krishna's family along with other Nepali residents held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar, demanding his immediate release and alleged that CBI was "framing him".
The CBI took Krishna to Bangalore for a narco-analysis test Wednesday. He is under CBI custody for the past few days and being interrogated.
The family demanded that Krishna be released immediately and Hemraj's son be taken care of either by the government or by the Talwars.
Aarushi, 14, was found dead in her Noida home May 16. Police initially named Hemraj as the main suspect. But his body was found on the terrace of the house the next day.
Rajesh Talwar, a prominent dentist, was arrested a week later.
