Sun TV launches two more FM stations

Launching two more FM radio stations at Gulbarga and Asansol under S-FM brand, the Chennai-based Sun TV Network Ltd has increased its number of FM stations to 40.

    CHENNAI: Launching two more FM radio stations at Gulbarga and Asansol under S-FM brand, the Chennai-based Sun TV Network Ltd has increased its number of FM stations to 40.
     
    In a filing with the National Stock Exchange on Tuesday, Sun TV Network said the two stations were launched by the company's subsidiaries Kal Radio Ltd and South Asia FM Ltd respectively. They would cater to all age groups.
     
    With the launch of the Gulbarga station in Karnataka, Kal Radio completes the launch of all its radio stations for which it has licenses.
     
    South Asia FM has launched 18 stations out of the 23 licenses it holds.

    The Sun TV group has targeted by 2010 a Rs.1 billion revenue from 45 FM radio stations.

    The group owns the licenses through Sun TV Network, Kal Radio Ltd (south India stations), South Asian FM Ltd (rest of India) and Udaya FM Pvt Ltd.

    While the stations in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry operate under the Suryan FM brand, the other stations are branded as S FM.

    Each station involves an investment of Rs.10-15 million and funding is done through internal accruals.
