NANDIGRAM: Ruling CPI(M) on Saturday asked the media to stay away from polling booths during tomorrow's panchayat polls.
"We have no problem if the media stays on the main roads. They should not visit polling booths in villages," local CPI(M) leader and candidate Naba Samanta said.
Asked why he was saying so, Samanta replied "there is no problem in Nandigram. It is the media which is creating a problem by blowing up things beyond proportion."
CPI(M) East Midnapore district secretary Ashok Guria said the media might depict small incidents, which would create tension. "Therefore, they should stay away from polling booths.
"Nandigram is our battle and we will win it. Of the ten gram panchayats in Nandigram, we are sure to win eight," Guria said.
"CPI(M) supporters who were rendered homeless by the Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee for months together last year will regain confidence after we win. And, we will win," he said.
