A big break with a big banner like Vishesh Films has not got Sonal Chauhan distracted from her studies and the svelte beauty is determined to complete her graduation in Philosophy and simultaneously pursue her career in acting and modelling.
“I have to be a graduate first,” Sonal, who is currently in her first year, told After Hrs, adding, “Studies are very important for me. I just want to play it safe — complete studies and plan my acting and modelling career simultaneously. I don’t want to land myself in a situation where I’m in a soup.”
Looks like Sonal has a sensible head over her shoulders but tell us lady how was it playing the love interest of ‘serial-kisser’ Emraan Hashmi in Jannat?
“I think I have been very lucky with my first film —big banner, big stars. Emraan has been very cooperative with me. He has helped me out a lot,” the actor said.
But what about the lip lock with Emraan, that we hear she was quite uncomfortable with it?
“I mean yes, to an extent I was but its ok. I’m not thinking much about it.”
Hmmm..and we also hear that you have done a pole dancing sequence in the film?
“Well yes I have done that too. But the script has changed a bit so I guess many of those shots won’t feature in the film.”
Damn! But tell us off hand how was it doing those moves?
“It was a good experience but let me tell you the steps are not the ones people may imagine. They are anything but cheap. They are very basic steps.”
Ok… let’s get into your character now.
“She is a very simple and sweet girl, loves shop hopping and suddenly meets this guy (Emraan) who sweeps her off her feet,” she said, adding, “But the girl is not frivolous within. She is very bold, determined, follows principles and does not give into wrong things.”
And do you relate to your character?
“Oh yes I do,” she said excitedly. “I love shopping, love diamonds, love getting swept off my feet. (Now that’s the thing guys should note if they have to impress her) but am very firm with my decisions and will not do anything that my conscience doesn’t support.”
Born in a Rajput family, Sonal Chauhan is not just satisfied with her Bollywood work but wants to continue with her modelling assignments too. “I’m very greedy, I want to do both and be successful in both too.”
