MUMBAI: Percept Holdings, the strategic holding company that promotes, owns and manages a spectrum of marketing communication companies, has been renamed Percept Limited.
The company is also consolidating its group companies, which were till now functioning as its operating brands. Percept operates around 20 companies in the media and entertainment sector.
While the company’s operating brands will function as divisions, its joint ventures and offshore entities will, however, remain at the subsidiary (investment) level.
Under the new operating structure, seven group companies — Percept Picture Company, Percept Profile India, Perspectrum, PDM India, Percept Out-of-Home, P9 Integrated and Percept Talent Management — have come together as divisions of Percept Ltd.
Its joint ventures and offshore entities — Percept/H, Hakuhodo Percept, AMO Communications, IBD India, Percept Swift, Percept Gulf, PDM International, Clea PR, Percept Profile Gulf, Allied Media, Percept Knorigin and Media Agency Middle East — are now the subsidiaries of Percept Ltd.
Ajay Upadhyay, president-corporate affairs, Percept Limited, says the consolidation would help improve integration within various division. “Our content and exploitation business is yet to be explored further. Percept Limited will work on a model which is more efficient financially and on better cost-structure terms,” he said.
The move, which was on the cards for well over a year, is a glimpse of what the future holds for the media sector, say industry observers. “Due to the robust 17-18% growth in the media and entertainment sector in India, consolidation will help channelise resources better. Specialised units will have to work closely with other pieces of the integrated communications model,” they said.
