Two families in Zee’s Rock and Roll Family face the threat of being disqualified as they do not happen to be blood relatives

Zee’s Rock and Roll Family is witnessing a major controversy, thanks to its complicated format. According to the show’s format the three generations of the family have to perform together and   be bound by ‘blood relationships’.

However, recently two of the families—the Kapoors  from Jaipur and the Ubales— from Pune have been leveled as defaulters. Reason? All the three generations do not share a blood bond. The Kapoor family’s son happens to be adopted; whereas the mother in the Ubale family is someone who took care of them and not their real mother. Needless to say, it was going against the format of the show.

Satish Dutt, the director of the show says, “This is an original concept where we want to showcase the unity in a  family and the fun they can have being together; that’s where the idea of blood relationships comes in. We would have never come to know the truth about the Kapoors and the Ubales if there was no formality of signing a legal document. They refused to sign the papers revealing that they were not actually blood relatives.”

The judges, specially Ajay Devgan was very unhappy and refused to go against the format of the show. “They confessed that it was wrong on their part, and that they did not have any wrong intentions. Now, both the families have been asked to get blood relatives if they want to stay on in the show. The format is the king, so it is important to be honest with it. Otherwise anyone can win the show by getting  dancers to pose as their family members,” Satish added.
