Actor Nupur Alankar, who plays the popular character, is apparently unhappy being reduced to a mere prop in the show

Rumours are rife that actor Nupur Alankar aka Halki in Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan (Zee), will be quitting the show. A source says that Nupur is not happy with the role and has often felt like a prop in the background.

Apparently, Nupur had even tried to speak to the creative team and discuss what the show could offer her at this stage. “But the meeting didn’t seem to be fruitful,” the source adds.

When quizzed about her decision, Nupur affirms and says, “I have conveyed my intentions to quit the show. I am awaiting the response from the production house.” When prodded to reveal the reason, she says “No comments!”

If Nupur does quit the show, this would be the third serial, which the actor has left after Saat Phere and Karam Apnaa Apnaa.

Nupur says, “I had had too many health problems during Saat Phere. While I was recovering from chicken pox, I suffered a relapse of viral fever. In Karam Apnaa Apnaa, my track ended. Honestly, I would never a quit a Balaji serial. Balaji Telefilms is lucky for me. In fact, I haven’t spent the money I earned for Karam yet.”

Nupur adds, “But in both cases, I had given the due notice period and enough time for the production team to wind up my act.”

Producer Dheeraj Kumar of Betiyaan says, “I am not aware of any such development.” Incidentally, Suchitra Bandekar aka Phulki in the show too has been missing from the show for over a month. Nupur’s quitting the show adds to the confusion of what could happen to the track of Halki-Phulki.
