MUMBAI: Prime Focus Studios is scaling up its presence within the US.

Almost two months after acquiring US-based Post Logic Studios and Frantic Films Software, it has now entered into a strategic alliance with Warner Bros Motion Picture Imaging (MPI).

MPI is one of Hollywood’s leading post-production facilities offering services in film preservation and restoration. It also owns a patented process to digitally restore classics from the Warner Bros film and television library, apart from other clients.

The agreement gives MPI a larger footprint globally as it will allow sharing of resources and management of workflow between its Burbank facility and Prime Focus’ global presence across UK, India and US.

The alliance will also help the companies move content seamlessly from facility to facility, using the most cost efficient method. This will allow them to process work in the time zone that is closest to meeting the individual filmmaker’s needs and schedules.

“Working with Prime Focus not only gives Motion Picture Imaging a global footprint, it allows both companies to provide our clients, wherever they are working, with convenient facilities, expanded capacity and the complete range of digital services for their films,” said Chuck Dages, executive vice-president, Warner Bros Home Entertainment Group.

Namit Malhotra, MD, Prime Focus, said: “The strategic alliance with MPI underscores our ability to service not only Warner projects, but also all the other esteemed clients of the company.”
