‘Jab We Met’, No Smoking’, ‘Mumbai Salsa’ and ‘Bal Ganesh’— the marquee offers four flavours this week

This week, there are four releases. But ‘Jab We Met’ looks the most promising. Presumably, this should be Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur’s last film. So the audiences would be keen to watch them together.

As for ‘No Smoking’, I rate Anurag Kashyap an excellent storyteller. Both Manoj Tyagi’s ‘Mumbai Salsa’ and ‘Bal Ganesh’ are for niche audiences. As these are the last releases before the big Diwali weekend, people would be keen to watch them. On the flip side, the audience attention could get divided.

The most promising release of this week is ‘Jab We Met’. People will be keen to see the former lovebirds on screen for probably the last time. Also, the music is a big hit and there are good things being said about the film. It caters to the perfect target audience—the 12-30 age group.

As for ‘No Smoking’, I would say it is strictly ‘No Viewing’. The promos and publicity look forced. It is as if the producers want to prevent you from watching the film. The film caters to a niche audience and will not do well. As for ‘Mumbai Salsa’ and ‘Bal Ganesh’, I don’t have any expectations. They won’t get an opening.
