Sex racket: Kingpin's wife suspended

GORAKHPUR (UP): A clerk with the north eastern railway has been suspended for her alleged involvement in a sex racket unearthed recently here.

Shobha Rani Srivastava, wife of alleged kingpin of the sex racket G P Srivastava, has been placed under suspension since yesterday pertaining to the inquiry pending against her for her alleged involvement in the sex-racket, official spokesman of the NER said today.

Although she has initially expressed ignorance of the racket later she was later found to be a co-accused in the racket and an FIR has also been registered against her.

In another development, railway administration has declared R K Mehta, Chief Engineer, NER, as absent from duty.

Earlier this week, SSP Mordia has asked railway authorities to sent Mehta for interrogation, as police
expected to get some "vital clues regarding the case" from him.

Till now, eight persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the racket.

Consignment to Lanka seized, 2 arrested

CHENNAI: Police has arrested one person and foiled an attempt to smuggle ammunition to Sri Lanka by using courier service.

The consignment contained plastic granules, motor coils, coil winding machines and cells.

Police also recovered 13 rounds of 9 mm pistol after nabbing a man yesterday who was in jail earlier for possessing narcotics.
