MUMBAI: National carrier Air India has received a huge response to its summer holiday offerings, with 1,110 packages being sold in the first 20 days of last month alone.

"These packages have been a big draw with holiday travellers. In the first 20 days of May alone, we sold nearly three times more of these packages than in entire April," an Air India spokesperson said on Tuesday.

The packages are gaining popularity, especially the Overseas Leave Travel Concession (LTC) holiday offerings, which suits the needs of travellers availing LTC, the spokesperson said.

In April, Air India had sold 400 holiday packages to Indian travellers.

The airline has also added Rs 8.5-crore to its coffers through the sale of these 1,110 packages, the spokesperson said.

The North-East, Goa and the Andamans are among the hot domestic destinations, while internationally, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Kathmandu are some of the most preferred spots, the spokesperson said.

The national carrier is offering over 400 comprehensive domestic and international holiday packages across 150 cities in the country and 10 international destinations.

Encouraged over the tremendous response, Air India recently added London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur to its package list.

The airline's China mainland package, introduced in April, include a trip to Shanghai, Beijing, Sozhou and Hangzhou.

These packages generally comprise return fares, airport transfers, accommodation, meals and sightseeing at an affordable cost.

Last year, Air India earned around Rs 74-crore through the sale of 13,120 such packages.
