Elderly woman murdered in South Delhi

NEW DELHI: While the Maheshwaris were engrossed in watching the exciting IPL final with friends at a South Delhi club on Sunday night, their 78-year-old mother, who was alone in their posh Greater Kailash residence, was brutally murdered.

Unidentified assailants broke into the house between 8 and 10pm, ransacked it and killed Hanslata.

Her son Sudhir said, “My wife, kids and me left home around 8pm to watch the IPL final. When we returned home shortly after 10 pm we found that somebody had broken the door of our house. I rushed in and found my mother’s body lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom on the ground floor.”

Deputy commissioner of police (south district) HS Dhaliwal said hunt was on for the culprits.
