Rs 1 lakh for the families of deceased

HASSAN: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday announced Rs one lakh compensation to the families of those killed in a mishap near Arakalgud on May 29.
   
Yeddyurappa who consoled the families of those killed in Basavanakoppal village, also announced Rs 50,000 relief to those who sufferred major injuries and 25,000 to those who sustained minor injuries.
   
Twenty five persons were killed and 60 injured when a lorry in which they were travelling rolled into a ditch.
   
Yeddyurappa, on his maiden visit to the district after becoming Chief Minister, said Rs two lakh compensation would be paid to the family of Bhojashetty and Suresh Shetty, who were gunned down by Naxalites near Hebri on May 15.
   
He said the government will strengthen the anti-Naxal force to effectively tackle the Naxal menace.
