MUMBAI: Trinetra Bajpai,a distant relative of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has made a foray into Bollywood with plans to produce five movies.
58-year-old Trinetra Bajpai who is a petrochemical engineer by profession said that there are 12 scripts which are being scrutinised by his production house Kanika Multiscope Pvt Ltd and he would select five scripts to be made into films.
He said his engineering profession required him to work at around 20 oil refineries in 72 countries in the last 22 years. "I am back in India now and want to make films as it has been my passion," he added.
Before venturing into filmmaking, he said he has written books on movie legends Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand and director Lekh Tandon.
He said he stepped into the entertainment world with his maiden television venture "Bikri Aas Nikri Preet" which is currently on air on DD-1. The serial is based on Sahitya Academy award winning novel "Vyavadhaan" (Sacrifice) written by his mother Shantikumari Bajpai.
The screen play and dialogues are written by his daughter Anshula who has completed her education in mass communication and creative writing from England and Australia.
Speaking about his relationship with former PM Vajpayee, Trinetra said, "we are distant relatives. Atalji's father is my cousin. Actually speaking I am his uncle. But, since he is elder to me,I call him uncle."
When asked why he chose Doordarshan for his serial "Bikri Aas...", he said that DD is India's number one channel and has maximum reach and it does not interfere in the production.
