An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Punjab Police, Daleep Singh Rana, popular as 'The Great Khali', said on Tuesday that he would continue to work with the state force.
JALANDHAR: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Punjab Police, Daleep Singh Rana, popular as 'The Great Khali', said on Tuesday that he would continue to work with the state force.
"I always want to continue my job with the Punjab Police, which has contributed a lot in my career and after my leave I will come back and join the state force," said the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Champion.
"I am grateful to Punjab Police, which has given me respect and until and unless the force throws me out, I will continue with the Punjab Police," said Khali, who was honoured by the Punjab Police at PAP Campus.
"Although the Himachal Pradesh Government has offered me lot of things, but as Punjab had given me a career, I love to work in the state," Khali said adding that it was the real home coming for him when he visited PAP campus on Tuesday.
About the film career, Khali said in Bollywood, he had already worked in two films including "Kushti" and "Rama The Savior" and as far as Hollywood was concerned, his film "Get Smart" would be released in a couple of weeks.
Asked about his comments on the challenge posed against him by the Punjab Olympian Wrestler Palwinder Singh Cheema, Khali said "If he really wants to challenged, he should do it for Undertaker and Batista to challenge the monopoly of America in WWE. I am just like his brother, what he or I will get out of challenge to each other".
Earlier, Rajan Gupta, Additional Director General of Police, assured Khali that his post would be regularised and he would recommend promotion for him to the state government.
Mahal Singh Bhulla, former DGP, Punjab, who was mentor of Khali, congratulate him and revealed that he made him joined other sports like Basket Ball and Hammer throw, but he failed and finally when he was put in Wrestling, it clicked and ultimately he brought glory to the nation.
Officers to whom, Khali used to salute, were seen lying in queue to welcome Khali. More crazy were the children of officers, who did not miss the opportunity to get photographed with the world champion and jumped on the dais one by one and Khali also obliged them with cheerful face.
