Drama in police station as swami threatens to shoot himself

ALUVA (KERALA): It was a scene of high drama at a police station here as self styled godman Himaval Maheswara Bhadrananda, against whom police have registered a case for allegedly threatning journalists of a Malayalam daily, tried to shoot himself with a pistol on Saturday morning.
    
Bhadrananda alias Ernakulam Swami had surrendered on Friday at a police station here after police registered a case against him for allegedly tresspassing into the office of 'Mangalam' daily and threatning its journalists, reportedly for carrying a series of articles on him.
    
He was later released on bail.
    
This morning, Bhadrananda called up a TV journalist and informed her that he was ending his life. The reporter immediately informed her office, who in turn called up the police, sources said.
    
Bhadrananda was brought to the police station and attempts were made to pacify him.
    
He lost his cool on seeing television journalists and once again threatened to end his life. As he tried to pull the trigger of his pistol pointed at his head, police tried to pull it away. In the melee, Bhadrananda injured his left palm police said adding no other person was injured.
    
He has been taken to the Karothukuzhi hospital.
