Two killed as tempo rams into train

NEW DELHI: Two persons were killed when a tempo rammed into a passenger train at an unmanned level crossing in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place at 11:55 a.m. at Sitapur-Cantt-Roza section, which is located between Mahooli and Mickleganj stations.

A Northern Railway spokesperson said the tempo dashed into the Sitapur-Sahajahpur passenger train, resulting in the death of the driver and the cleaner of the vehicle on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Gulati (driver) and Triloki Nath (cleaner).

The traffic was affected on the route for about an hour and the train left the spot at 12:50 p.m., the spokesperson said.
