Death toll in boat mishap mounts to 22

Pune: The death toll in the boat mishap at Bhatghar reservoir has reached 22, police said on Friday.

The strength of the marriage party that met with an accident on Wednesday night has been put at 31 instead of 28 presumed earlier, police said.

The boat was returning from the other end of the reservoir to village Wakambe in Bhor taluka when a strong wind current reportedly tilted it, drowning the passengers in deep
waters.

The boat was carrying more people than its capacity, police said.

Fifteen bodies, which included ten women and four children have so far been fished out and search for remaining victims was on.

Nine persons swam to safety after the boat drowned mid-way.
