BJP summons Munde, Gadkari to Delhi for sorting out the differences "through dialogue". Prime BJP leaders refuse to accept Munde's resignation.
NEW DELHI: Rattled by the sudden resignation of Gopinath Munde, the BJP today swung into action calling the party leader from Maharasthra as also his detractor Nitin Gadkari to Delhi for sorting out the differences in the state unit.
Munde, upset over the appointment of key functionaries in Mumbai unit, resigned from all organisational posts yesterday including party General Secretary, bringing to the fore simmering differences between him and Gadkari, who is the state party chief.
Top party brass including L K Advani, party chief Rajnath Singh and Venkaiah Naidu had a meeting here this morning to discuss the matter after which Singh said "all issues will be resolved soon through dialogue."
Sources said the party has summoned both Gadkari and Munde to Delhi after the turf war between the two came out in the open but Singh sought to play down any such move, saying "they keep coming to Delhi often."
Munde tendered his resignation as he is apparently miffed at the appointment of Member of Legislative Council Madhu Chavan, considered close to Gadkari, as the head of the party's Mumbai unit.
The controversy in Maharashtra has come a time when the problems in the party unit in Bihar in the wake of the reshuffle carried out by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are yet to die down and BJP's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi is coming under attack from state leaders.
The BJP central leadership has already said that there was no question of accepting Munde's resignation and has authorised Rajnath Singh to talk to the Maharashtra leader to sort out the problem.
"I have not received the resignation letter yet. Anyways, It will not be accepted. The issue will be sorted out," Singh said.
