NEW DELHI: A 11-year-old girl in west Delhi has been allegedly kidnapped and the abductors have demanded Rs.5 million for her release, police said on Sunday.

Kritika, a Class 8 student, left her home in Hari Nagar on Saturday afternoon to visit a friend but didn't return, a police official said. Kritika lives with her father, an exporter.

At 7 p.m., an unidentified caller demanded a ransom of Rs.5 million for Kritika's safe release, the official said.

Police was informed about the girl's abduction after the ransom call, he said.

The family received another call at 9 p.m., when Kritika reportedly spoke to her father, and the abductor asked him if the money had been arranged.

Police have registered a case and have formed five teams to rescue Kritika, a student of Happy Model School in Janakpuri.

Kritika's parents live separately and her mother is in Ambala, Haryana.
