India’s find of the season is overjoyed to return to his parents and friends

NEW DELHI: It was a hero’s welcome for city boy Ishant Sharma as he returned to his apartment in Central Delhi’s Old Ranjit Nagar on Thursday evening after being felicitated at the Feroz Shah Kotla for being a part of the victorious Indian cricket team.

As planned by the Sharma family, the new pace sensation was welcomed by a grand procession, with several drum players leading the march, at the Patel Nagar Metro station. Ishant was taken to his residence on the shoulders of his friends and onlookers cheered him and threw flowers and garlands to welcome him.

Outside his home, a live DJ played songs from Chak De India, while huge crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of this rising star. And the star of the moment, Ishant, was “just overjoyed” to be back home. “It feels great to be back home after a long our historic win. I just want to thank all my friends for their support and am looking forward to spend sometime with my family and close friends,” Ishant said.

On what he plans to do for the next few days, the bowler said, “I just want to take rest, catch some good sleep. Am very tired.” His family was busy welcoming the crowds thronging at the residence. Every guest was being welcomed with sweets but his father Vijay Kumar would allow guests to enter the house with the warning — “just two minutes please, I want him to rest.” Ishant came in for praise from none other than Australian skipper Ricky Ponting who labelled him as ‘lethal’ and also added that he was one of the best bowlers he has ever faced.
