MUMBAI: Expressing concern over hike in fuel prices, Shiv Sena on Saturday criticised the Centre for rise in prices of essential commodities and for making the life of common man more difficult.

By increasing the price of petrol and diesel, the government has made the life of common man more difficult, an editorial in 'Saamna,' the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, said.

The editorial said though it is a fact that the crude oil prices in the international market has shot up, the government should have explored other avenues to offset them rather than putting the burden on common man.

Due to government's apathy, prices of essential commodities like wheat, pulses, edible oil and other things have shot up, the editorial said.

The government does not have any control over the demand and supply of petrol, it said.
