Protest continues in UP over Raj's comments

Continuing their protest over Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray's objectionable remark for the second day, the Samajwadi Partry activists burnt his effigy.

KANPUR: Continuing their protest over Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's objectionable remark for the second day on Tuesday, the Samajwadi Partry (SP) activists burnt his effigy at Begumpurwa area here.

SP district president Nasiruddin said both the Centre and the Maharashtra government should take serious action against the MNS workers.
  
Shouting anti-MNS slogans, the SP workers assembled at Begumpurwa. Later, they burnt Raj Thackeray in effigy.
  
''The agitation would continue till any action is initiated against the MNS leader,'' the SP leader underlined.   
  
On Monday, the SP activists had staged vociferous demonstrations across the state, condemning Thackeray's objectionable statement against senior SP leader Amar Singh and his party's attack on North Indians in Mumbai.
  
In Allahabad, at least 12 SP activists were arrested for their effort to hault Kashi Vishwanath train at Prayag station. The mob had also burnt Thackeray in effigy at Parivartan Chowk area of the state capital. 
  
The protestors had also tried to disrupt the rail route by stopping Gomti Express.
