PATNA: Rashtriya Muslim Dalit Sena, a minority organisation, on Friday castigated former Union Home Minister L K Advani for his demand to extend the visa period of controversial writer Taslima Nasreen.

The organisation's president, Raees Azam, said here that Ms Nasreen had hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims across the world by making objectionable remarks on Islam in her book  'Dwikhandita'.

''No one has the right to hurt the sentiments of any community and the government should initiate lawful action against those trying to disturb the communal amity in the society,'' he added.

''Mr Advani has exhibited his pseudo secularism by defending Ms Nasreen, who does not even care for the sentiments of the Muslims,'' he said, adding that a ''responsible leader like Mr Advani'' could not demand extension of visa period of the controversial writer.

Mr Raees also criticised president of Maharshtra Nav Nirman Manch Raj Thackeray for describing the pious Chhath festival as a drama and said this sort of trend should be checked forthwith by taking strong action against him.

He also castigated him for his message to non-Maharashtrian to speak Marathi if they wanted to live in Maharashtra and said every citizen in the country has the right to earn their livelihood in any part of the country without fear or discrimination.
