CHENNAI:AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa on Tuesday demanded that the Tamil Nadu Government set up an inquiry commission to probe the "mysterious death" of a nurse at the house of an associate of M K Azhagiri, the eleder son of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, on Sunday last.

She alleged Karpagavalli, who was appointed by Azhagiri's friend Nagesh to take care of his ailing mother, was found raped and murdered at his house in Madurai. A post-mortem had been conducted on the body without even informing her parents, she said in a statement here.

Alleging that the police had forced the parents to cremate the body immediately, Jayalalithaa said the incident had created a scare among the residents of Madurai who were 'already in the grip of fear due to rowdies problem, terrorist activities and the burning of Tamil daily 'Dinakaran' office."

Stating that the incident was an example of the law and order situation prevailing in the state, she demanded that a inquiry commission be set up to probe the death.
