NEW DELHI: The Centre said on Tuesday it would seek a CBI inquiry into the Gurgaon kidney racket in order to find out how widespread it was.
"Since it (the racket) may involve multiple states and cities like Mumbai, Noida and Gurgaon....we will soon be requesting the CBI to undertake a detailed investigation and give a comprehensive report on how widespread the problem is," Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said at a press conference here.
"We have asked the Haryana Government to take steps and also sought some more information from them regarding the kind of steps they have taken," Ramadoss said.
Haryana police has sought a red corner Interpol notice to track down Amit Kumar, alleged kingpin of the multi-crore kidney transplant racket, apprehending he may have fled the country, as investigations revealed he owned several properties in Gurgoan and operated at least eight bank accounts.
