Yashpal boosts services

AHMEDABAD: Navy man Yashpal Singh’s disciplined knock of 97 enabled North Zone take a valuable 142-run lead over South Zone in the Duleep Trophy match played at Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Motera on Sunday.

Aware of Yashpal nearing the magical three-figure mark, South Zone captain Badrinath tossed the ball to R Vinay.

The Karnataka pacer didn’t disappoint as Yashpal flirted with an outswinging delivery and was caught by Ravi Teja at third slip. South lost openers Teja and Asnodhkar early on.
