NEW DELHI: Central intelligence agencies had warned CRPF authorities of a possible militant attack at recruitment centres to create terror in the country, a senior officer with the paramilitary force said today, hours after suspected terrorists struck at one of its camps in UP.

He said the force had received such a warning a few days after the November 23 serial blasts in courts in Faizabad, Lucknow and Varanasi but maintained it was of a general nature.

The input was "not specific" and was general in nature, he said.

As per the warning, militants were likely to target paramilitary forces and army recruitment camps, the officer said.

CRPF Director General SIS Ahmed has reached Rampur in Uttar Pradesh to take stock of the situation in the wake of the attack in which eight persons, including seven of the forces' personnel, were killed and five others injured.
