After the 11/7 blasts, the Mumbai Railway Police intensified security. "Personnel are now engaged in baggage checking," said deputy commissioner of police (Central Railway zone) Vasant Koregoankar.

The railway police have formed their own dog squad. "We will also form a Bomb Squad," Koregaonkar said. "More than 8000 commuters are members of the Pravasi Mitra Yojana, a unique initiative by the railways."
