Notwithstanding the sealing of premises on November 29 and the breach of condition notice served on December 7 by the suburban collector Vishwas Patil to Khar Gymkhana, it still continues to take bookings for weddings.

When Sarita Tigdi called the gymkhana on Monday at the behest of DNA, Sunita from the gymkhana office told her that the tennis ground was available for weddings on February 18, 2008.

The show cause notice, issued by the suburban collector twice, demanded the clubs take prior permission of the state government and pay the amount prescribed to be paid to the collector before conducting marriages and private ceremonies.

When Tigdi asked her whether prior permission of the collector was required, she was told that it was an internal matter and was asked to go ahead with the bookings.

Tigdi was also informed that the rates for booking were Rs20,000 with Rs10,000 as deposit for the banquet hall and Rs35,000 with Rs20,000 as deposit for the tennis ground.

Deputy collector Anmol Yadav, when asked for the reason for inaction, said, “It’s a quasi-judicial procedure. We cannot take action without evidence.”
