Suspended CCI administrator claims people still support him

MUMBAI: Former Cricket Club of India president Raj Singh Dungarpur, whose membership was suspended for two years at an executive committee meeting on Tuesday, said that he wouldn’t consider a legal course of action but would give a fitting reply in a couple of days.

Under the leadership of IM Kadri, the new president, the executive committee of the club voted in favour of expulsion of Raj Singh’s membership.

However, the former chairman of the national selectors was at his sharpest when contacted and said: “I will not duck away from facing fast bowling. I will not duck the bouncers but hook them to the boundary. There is a popular wave among the members in my favour and no one can run away from that.”

Meanwhile, members of the Dungarpur camp said that the expulsion was hatched as the rival faction feared the ex-president would sweep the polls to be held in late December.

While, an inquiry initiated by Kadri’s faction and conducted by KPMG highlighted certain financial irregularities during the reign of Dungarpur as president, it hasn’t been deemed serious enough.
