FIIs purchase shares worth Rs 480.18 cr on bourses

Foreign Institutional Investors made investments worth Rs 480.18 crore in equities as the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex, ended up 208 points.

MUMBAI: Foreign Institutional Investors on Wednesday made investments worth Rs 480.18 crore in equities as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark index, Sensex, ended up 208 points.
    
Domestic Institutional Investors, however, sold shares worth Rs 159.71 crore, provisional data available on the BSE show.
    
FIIs made gross sales of equities worth Rs 4,688.20 crore and gross purchase of Rs 5,168.38 crore.
    
Among other categories, Non-Resident Indian entities purchased equity worth Rs 0.29 crore, while proprietors made a net investment of Rs 85.39 crore in equities. Brokers sold Rs 166.59 crore of shares for their clients or retail investors.
    
The Sensex ended the day at 19,738.07, a rise of 208.57 points or 1.07 per cent.
