IIT gets $1million for research centre

IIT-Bombay in its golden jubilee year has received $1 million from Bharti Foundation to set up a communication centre to undertake research on 4G technology.

IIT-Bombay in its golden jubilee year has received $1 million from Bharti Foundation to set up a communication centre to undertake research on 4G technology, RF MEMS, Next-Generation IP/MPLS Services and Optical Fiber Communication.

The centre, to be set up at the Powai campus, will house communication theory, practice and applications under a one roof.

Ashok Misra, director of IIT-B said, “Establishing the Bharti Centre for Communication will be an excellent example of our interactions with the industry and will provide a platform for future collaboration between the researchers at Bharti Enterprises and faculty at IIT Bombay.

The synergy between a leading industry and an academic institute will be of mutual benefit.” Rakesh Bharti Mittal, vice chairman, Bharti Enterprises said, “The initiative will promote education and research in the field of communication system and technology.”
