MUMBAI: Senior Sena leader in the legislative council Divakar Raote has launched a protest march issue in question is unending suicides of Vidarbha farmers demanding waiver of farmers’ loans. The march that begun on Tuesday from Mozri  in Amravati district will be reaching Nagpur on November 18, a day before the state legislative assembly session begins.

Sena’s march is the first such large-scale agitation organised to highlight the issue of farmers’ suicides. Besides its ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti, the Republican Party of India factions as well as Gandhians and Sarvodayi activists too are joining the march. Raote has said, “We have decided to take this issue to its logical end. We will be raising this issue inside the House and also outside”

Maharashtra Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandal (MPSM) President Dr Sugan Baranth told DNA “It is true that we have never aligned with Sena or BJP in the past and we normally distance ourselves from these parties and their frontal organisations. However, this issue of farmers’ suicides is so big, so serious that we, after due consultation at various levels within the organisation, decided support the cause if not the
organisation.”
