NEW DELHI: Around 200 CRPF personnel managed to stay over night in the trouble-torn Nandigram area for the first time since violence broke out in the region and are now planning to set-up a temporary camp to get a further foot-hold.

Two companies (around 200 personnel) remained stationed in their vehicle during the night-long surveillance, official sources said.

The CRPF will soon be establishing a temporary camp in the area with an aim to gain a further foot-hold, the sources said.

In its report to the Union Home Ministry, the CRPF also apprised the Centre about the places identified to set-up make-shift camps in the trouble-torn area of Nandigram in East Midnapore district.

The sources alleged that there was no cooperation from the state police in guiding the CRPF personnel to the areas being hit by violence.

Meanwhile, an additional Mahila Company will be deployed Nandigram to help the state police.

The Centre had agreed to send about 1,000 personnel to Nandigram last weekend.
