Elderly woman branded a witch, murdered

RAIPUR: A man was arrested by the police for killing an elderly woman after calling her a witch, police said Monday.

Jitu Sahu, 23, allegedly stabbed to death a 60-year-old woman, Ghasan Bai, in Jorapara area of the state capital on Sunday. He reportedly suspected the victim was responsible for the chronic health problems in his family.

"Jitu was arrested after the woman, who sustained multiple knife injuries, died at a government hospital late Sunday," BS Marawi, senior superintendent of police, Raipur, said Monday.
