NANDIGRAM: CRPF personnel meant for deployment in this trouble-torn village had to return last night after being stopped by CPI(M) supporters blocking roads.

CPI(M) supporters stopped three hundred CRPF personnel at Fulni More but were chased away, but the Central forces again ran into another road block at Reahpara where the Marxist supporters did not allow them to pass.

The personnel then drove back to Chandipur Police Station before returning to Tamluk, the district headquarters of East Mindapore.

Superintendent of Police, Satyeswar Panda admitted that the CRPF personnel were blocked by CPI(M) supporters and had to turn back from Nandigram.

He said five hundred additional personnel of the Central forces will soon be arriving.

During the shutdown called by opposition parties on Monday, anit-land acquistition BUPC supporters blocked roads at many places here and even checked patients going to hospital. All shops were closed
