‘Media should state facts’

Allistair Perreira's parents speak on what they think of the media, the drink and drive campaign and their personal message for youngsters.

1. On the media: Before I used to think that media shows the truth, but after this incident they forced me to change my views because there is no ethical journalism.

In one of the newspapers, they printed my interview which I never gave. Why are they passing opinions by saying that Allister is a rich and spoilt brat.

2. On drink and drive campaign: It’s a fabulous campaign by the Mumbai police and DNA. But our police also need to be honest in  its investigations.

3. Message to youngsters: Youngsters should try to reach their home as early as possible in the night and not give anybody the chance to asses their character.

1. On the media: Media should have been more responsible when it comes to facts of the case. The very headline “Hit and Run case” is incorrect.

They must understand the importance of stating facts and not go all out to sensationalise the incident in their bid to increase readership or TRPs.

2. On drink and drive campaign: it’s a very good campaign. It will make the youth aware of the danger and consequences of drinking and driving.

3.Message to youngsters: Youth should try and not indulge in late-night parties.

And, more importantly, “Do not drink and drive” because your small mistake can spoil your as well as your family’s life.
