WASHINGTON: A Republican Presidential candidate has slammed the Bush administration's Pakistan policy by saying that America has no business in propping up beleaguered President Pervez Musharraf.

"It's pretty typical of our foreign policy. We're always trying to prop up certain governments. It always backfires on us. I think it was a terrible investment," Texas Congressman Ron Paul told Fox News in an interview.

"How many Americans would vote if they had to - if they knew exactly what was going on, to give a guy like this, who's a military dictator who overthrew an elected leader, and give him USD 11 billion."

"I can think of a lot of other places that that money ought to be spent. Why don't we, you know, rebuild our bridges here at home or something before giving money to a dictator like this?" he asked.

Saying that the US should not be involved in the region, Paul, the Republican aspirant for the party nomination for the 2008 Presidential elections, said the country 'have only two choices -- either bomb people or subside them'.
