NEW DELHI: Congress on Monday disapproved of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's mourning the death of LTTE leader Thamilselvan, reminding him that it was a banned outfit in India which was behind the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi.

"We will not support eulogising of terrorism in any form and we will not forget the action perpetrated by the LTTE", Congress spokesman Jayanthi Natarajan said here.

Natarajan, who was subjected to a volley of questions on Karunanidhi expressing grief over the death of the LTTE's Political wing secretary in an air strike by Sri Lankan Airforce last week, said "it was his personal view and we do not subscribe to it".

"There is no meeting point," she said when asked how she saw the reaction of the DMK supremo whose party is part of Congress-led UPA.

To several questions, including if a Chief Minister who holds a constitutional post can praise anyone from such a banned organisation or if Congress disapproves of it, Natarajan said she did not have any further comment to make.

On AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa's criticism of the Chief Minister on the issue, Natarajan said "her allies are saying more or less the same thing."

She dubbed as "normal courtesy" Jayalalithaa's meeting TNCC President Krishnaswamy, who was stabbed by unidentified persons, in hospital, suggesting there was no political significance to it.

When told about Jayalalithaa's statement that the DMK government did not provide her with security despite several pleas, she steered clear of the matter, maintaining an inquiry has been ordered by Tamil Nadu government and the party would await its findings.
