GUWAHATI: The Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said here Sunday that he hoped to win the one-day series against Pakistan and there is no pressure playing Pakistan.
"Media reports suggests this series is bigger than the Ashes, but we are taking it just like any other series and will give our 100 percent and win," Dhoni said in a pre-match press conference.
"We have met Pakistan quite a number of times in recent years and that helps. There is no pressure as such," he said.
India and Pakistan play their first of the five one-day internationals (ODI) at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati Monday.
"We have a good batting and bowling attack and we must improve on our fielding and running between the wickets," said the captain.
On the team's composition, Dhoni said the playing 11 are yet to be decided.
"There is a competition between Virender Shehwag and Gautam Gambhir. Both are doing very well at this moment and it is becoming difficult to choose between the two," the captain said.
About the wicket, Dhoni said: ""The wicket looks flat and what is worrying is the small size of the outfield which is about 65 yards. It is worrying for the bowlers. But if the wicket is gripping then the spinners could have an impact."
On the surprise exclusion of former captain Rahul David, Dhoni said it was an opportunity for the youngsters to fill the vacuum.
"Talent-wise it is hard to fill the gaps in place of players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble."
Asked if the imposition of emergency in Pakistan would affect the Pakistan team, Dhoni said it was their internal problem.
"I am looking after my side and we are here to win. I cannot comment on their side."
