JAMSHEDPUR: Hundreds of Bengalis including women on Sunday carried out a silent procession here and demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of shoe baron Ashish Dey by unidentified miscreants on Friday last.

The protesters, under the banner of Jharkhand Bangabhasi Samanway Samity, marched through the main thoroughfare of the steel city before culminating their procession in front of the residence of the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum district.

Later, a delegation of the samity submitted a memorandum of their demand to the Deputy Commissioner.

"The Bengali community of the state has lost faith in the local administration as there is no breakthrough in Dey's murder yet," chairman of the samity, Vikas Mukherjee said adding that the community will mount pressure on the government to recommend a CBI enquiry into the killing.

Another samity leader said such killings of businessmen have been sending a wrong message, which will have its impact on the development of the state.
