CM taken on wheelchair from a function

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi was on Saturday taken on a wheelchair after attending a private function as he complained of knee pain.

While the senior statesman walked to the programme with the help of cabinet ministers K Ponmudi and KN Nehru, he could not do so after the programme.

A new wheel-chair was arranged immediately for him and he was helped onto it. An employee of the hotel, where the programme was on, helped him leave the venue.

Sources close to him said that the chief minister had returned to the city on Friday after a hectic four day tour of the state.

He had been complaining of knee pain and that also was the reason why he could not go to the airport on Friday to receive the President Pratibha Patil, they said.
