Perhaps, those new to the ‘Halo’ concept would enjoy it more.
Halo 3 has a futuristic setting; the year 2552 to be precise. The protagonist of Halo 3 is the master chief, a soldier, who has the responsibility of protecting Earth from an alien civilisation called Covenant. The Master Chief (who you control), is ably supported by a team which encounters different types of terrains and enemies during their mission.
In any first person shooter game, the gameplay and the choice of weapons are crucial factors.
And thankfully, Halo 3 doesn’t disappoint on any count. You can choose from a variety of weapons ranging from sniper rifles to rapid fire machine guns. You have the usual stuff like grenades at your disposal. The best part is when you can hold two weapons in both the hands and fire simultaneously like a gung-ho cowboy. There are unusual weapons like the automatic pistol ‘spiker’ and the gravity hammer.
Besides the attack weapons, there are some defence mechanisms you can deploy. One among them is a bubble shield which protects you from the enemy’s firepower while allowing you to shoot at them. Also there is a silent mode which puts you n a stealth mode allowing you to catch the enemy unaware.
Of course, the enemy too is well stacked up in firepower. And you will enjoy the combat at almost every stage.
And while shooting in the first person mode is fun, it gets more exciting when you are behind a gun mounted atop a vehicle. And, depending on the campaign, there are different vehicles to choose from. Besides the normal military off-road vehicles, you can use a sand-dune buggy, the monstrous ‘Brute’ or fly the ‘Ghost’.
The ‘Ghost’ is a fast craft with deadly firepower. In addition, the game has stunning visuals and spot-on controls. Halo 3 has an online version as well. With the launch of Xbox Live in India, gamers can enjoy multiplayer action as well.
