Efficient power in couple of years: Hooda

CHANDIGARH: Haryana would not be a power deficit state after two-and-a-half years as the state government was working for increasing the generation of electricity within the state, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Tuesday.
  
Mr Hooda was speaking on the occasion of foundation laying ceremony of 400/220 KV gas insulated substation at sector 71 in Gurgaon.
  
He said the substation, to be set up by Power Grid Corporation of India at a cost of Rs about 170 crore, would be a milestone in the development of the state.
  
Mr Hooda said that increasing the power generation was necessary for the development of the country and the state.
  
He reiterated that the state government aimed at adding 5,000 MW additional power to the existing power generated in the state.
  
On this occasion, the Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said the Union government has fixed the target to generate 78000 MW power by the end of next five year plan in the country.
