Uttarakhand police recovers stolen jewellery worth 30 lakhs

The Uttarakhand Police on Friday arrested two thieves and recovered the stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 30 lakhs from their possession.

DEHARADUN: The Uttarakhand Police on Friday arrested two thieves and recovered the stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 30 lakhs from their possession.
 
The culprits, who committed the theft at their former employer Col N K Mahajan's house on September 30 last, could be traced on the basis of their finger prints, Superintendent of Police (City) N S Napalchyal said.
 
It is the first and greatest success achieved by the state police on the basis of finger prints, he said adding that the complete booty of jewellery worth over 30 lakhs was recovered from the arrested thieves.
 
The finger prints of as many as eleven suspects including the two arrested were sent for analysis to National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) New Delhi, he said.
